THE CHILL FACTOR

Once again the Russians are coming -- to Iceland -- where agents are helping to aggravate the wary isolationism of the natives and to promote difficulties for the Americans, particularly after the murder of a girl seen with a serviceman. Bill Conrail, who is British, is asked by an American at the NATO base to try to determine just who the Russians in Icelandic skins are, and he's helped, or is he, by the ""wery"" ""vunderful"" Gudrun. Mr. Falkirk writes a tight scenario and his story manages to be different and better than most with a peremptory excitement which doesn't forfeit conviction. It all goes through you like a shot of aquavit and Iceland has never seemed colder or hotter.
