KIRKUS REVIEW

This supplements other books on Canada in that it traces the expansion to the Northwest, which, according to the author, could be opened up for habitation. From early exploration and trapping, to the present missions, administration (severely criticized), modern transportation and communication, discoveries of oil, gold, radium. Development of stockraising, farming, tourist resources..all in all a picture of civilization advancing towards the Pole and of the feasibilities of the subarctic land. Perhaps it is a trifle ahead of itself -- but it should be of interest today.
