RICHARD HALLIBURTON: His Story of His Life's Adventures

This is a ""natural"" for those who liked Royal Road to Romance, Flying Carpet, etc. And their name is legion. Halliburton's disappearance, with the last word a wire telling of storm at sea and decks awash, makes this collection of his letters a peculiarly glamorous way to follow a full and colorful and dramatic life. His personality has gone over with lecture audiences everywhere; his adventure travel books have hit peak figures for that type of thing. And now, through his letters, the reader gets to know him first hand, from checkered school days, interrupted by running away to be a sailor and tramping through Central Europe, when the fatal bug of restlessness and terrific pressure bit him and fixed his life pattern. The letters follow his career; they are written fully, in easy, friendly, casual style. And the editors have supplied a continuity.
