AFTER YOUR HEART ATTACK

Perhaps more truthfully than he intended, Dr. Guild, of the Harvard Medical School, states at the beginning that ""Truthfully there should be no need for this book."" Most recently, Lawrence E. Lamb's Your Heart and How To Live with It (p. 588) took care of the subject very thoroughly. Dr. Guild has written his book in very simple terms: anatomy; diagnosis; terminology (""degenerative heart disease"" for example is ""meaningless""); testing procedures; on to the boredom and depression which may well follow the attack and the restructuring of a sensible life he calls PACE. Dr. Guild believes (as Dr. Lamb did not) that stress is contributory--so is overweight (""Your fat is your fate"") and accordingly there is a discussion of diet (including recipes), cholesterol, moderate exercise. And a final list of questions which occur most frequently, Adequate.
