A rather routine re-telling of nine acts of violence which precipitated international repercussions, this covers known but perhaps forgotten incidents. Among them are the murder of Gandhi; the London imprisonment of Sun Yat-Sen at the Chinese Legation; the assassination of Alexander, the last of the Romanovs, of Dollfus, of Matteotti; the execution of Czar Nicholas; the macabre murder of Rasputin; the shot at Sarajevo; the career of Marguerite Zelle, Mata Hari, courtesan and agent; and the recent headliner, Mrs. Kasekina, the schoolteacher who escaped Soviet tyranny....The incendiary values here are more inherent in the material than in the handling.
