DOUGLAS SAVES THE DAY

It starts as an activity book story. Douglas Rabbit and the three other rabbit children are kept in by the rain. Instead of crying about the big parade they've missed, they make some easily imitated dragons out of heavy paper and tape to surprise their mother. Unfortunately for the story, the sun came out and the four Habbit children, chasing a wind tossed paper creation, get caught up in one of those interminable parades that stream through so many children's books and the whole crowd ends up enjoying ice cream on the Rabbit lawn. The simplicity of the drawings by severely Komoda of the stiffly stuffed Rabbit family adapt well to the early ""how-to"" part of the book, but, like the story, pall by the beginning of the parade.
