KIRKUS REVIEW

What seems to be the land of Araby's second leading export nowadays--infernal terrorist plots--right off the production line from the author of The Black Gold of Malaverde and The Platinum Bullet. Dispatched to Al Hakeer to learn why the oildom has mortgaged all of its gold reserves, Lebanese banker Hamir discovers that the nearby Island of Ishbaad is being stockpiled with industrial-type machinery. The country's mystic emir, the fanatical al-Mazir al-Hakesch al-Saloud, appears to be planning to retaliate against the U.S., but how?--a nuclear attack?, bacterial warfare? Company man Hugo Wolfram and his demolition team blow up the island for good measure--only later do they realize that the Emir is about to bombard the White House, Capitol and Supreme Court with radioactive cobalt 60 paper clips in an attempt to ""wipe out"" all of America's leadership. Not much fizzion--in spite of all those unstable isotopes, you'll probably have the same old reaction.
