STORIES TO REMEMBER

There is not a story in this collection that worth reading for the first time and rereading again and again. The stories, thirty odd, are supplemented by chapters and extracts from full length novels and there are six memorable short novels, all minor classics. For a sampling, read Maugham's The Lord Mountdrage. Eleanor M. Kelly's Banqquerie Poe's Fall of the House of Ushes and The By O. Henry. A fine backgrounding in 19th century and near-contemporary writing.
