QUICK HEADACHE RELIEF WITHOUT DRUGS: A Physician's Guide

How to cure headaches by digging your thumbnails into your temples--with an overdose of anecdotes. Psychiatrist Kurland got sold on ""auto-acupressure"" after he tried acupuncture for a herniated disk in Taipei and learned that he could treat himself using thumbnails instead of needles. The technique calls for ""jamming the pain circuit"" on four pairs of pressure points, near the eyes, neck, thumbs, and wrists. The problem is that they are ""quite easy to miss"" and ""not everyone has the courage to inflict real pain on himself."" Other headache remedies may have even less desirable side effects, from ""making life's colors grow dim"" to death by overdose. Everything about headaches, their causes, the people who get them: ""You may wonder why I do not get down to the cure instead of continuing to talk about the symptoms"". No harm trying his--even if you're all thumbs.
