KIRKUS REVIEW

Johnny Edwards decides to play it by ear when Tony Mendoza, who had saved his life in Manila, is killed in Havana when he refused to be smuggled out. Johnny joins the Border Patrol, finds his scrappy heart interest is the sister of his superior, and learns the hard way when he tries on some solo prima donna acts. Acting stupid to draw fire, he is in on the kill of alien smuggling. Sharp dialog and smart action.
