THE CONTEMPORARY CHRIST by Richard Roberts

THE CONTEMPORARY CHRIST

By

Publisher: Macmillan

The second in the Great Issues of Life Series edited by Dr. Rufus Jones. This is a book for the clergy or the thoughtful church-minded layman. It is not easy reading for Dr. Roberts uses the language of philosophy and theology. It is the book for those who preach the gospel of God's search for man and the Christian community rather than the exponents of personal religion although Dr. Roberts makes it clear that while God knocks, the door must be opened from within. Revelation, prayer, social and civic unity are discussed in an interesting way by the author, former Moderator of the United Church in Canada. The largest market will be among the Protestant groups where the social gospel has been preached and discussed so much, where there have been experiments in community enterprises as well as community churches operated with signal success.
