THE DARK CONTINENT

Ephemeral, but nice in a small way -- in a story of how good came out of mischance, as Rafferty, retrained professor in a woman's college, dominated by his mother, and engaged to Edwina, falls into an excavation the day before his marriage, and loses his memory. For a few hours he enters a new and happier world, falls in love with a switchboard operator, gets in two brawls, and when he recovers, choses Dotty and freedom, in preference to the more orderly life ordained by his mother.
