ALL ABOARD THE WHALE!

, aged 12, her brother Peter, aged 11, and their friend Jonathan are all in trouble because they have to raise money to repair the ravages made by their pets. In the harbor of Fair Harbor is an old tug the Whale with its captain and engineer called Captain Virgil and Captain Homer who fear that their days of usefulness are passed. The children and the old ones get together and solve their various problems, giving the reader plenty of action. Note this is the author of The Curious Lobster, but a story in very different vein.
