Ridgely Torrence's first collection since 1925, containing in part poems which have been previously published. The first section is composed of war poems -- others deal with history and legend, the seasons, general themes. There is little spontaneity -- and little character to his verse. There is a conventionality of form and sentiment which definitely marks it of another -- and past -- generation.
