This is a bit beyond picture-story book; and yet the difficult African animal names make it a hard book for beginners. But the interest level is definitely here. An amusing and original story of a young giraffe who was determined to outrun everything in the veldt-including what turns out to be an automobile Charles Bracker has illustrated it with delicious pictures in color.
