"ADD IT, DIP IT, FIX IT: A Book of Verbs" by R.M. Schneider

"ADD IT, DIP IT, FIX IT: A Book of Verbs"

A chipper alphabet book--Schneider's first--that demonstrates verbs by showing their effect on ""it,"" the result of an ""i"" added to ""t."" ""It"" is boxed, climbed, dipped, and so on, right through to zipped. The plucky letters survive, none the worse for their ordeal, but readers may weary of the conceit before the alphabet is finished. Still, most of the action words are simple and printed in large, solid type; children just beginning to be interested in reading will have fun recognizing the lowercase letters, even if the concept of verbs passes them by. The book's clean-cut, inventive graphics, a mix of full-color illustrations and photographs silhouetted on a white background, give the pages an appealing up-to-date look.
