THE GREMLINS

by Roald Dahl

Pub Date: June 5th, 1943
Publisher: Random House

This large, bright colored Walt Disney creation is by no means as juvenile as its appearance suggests. It has considerable story and a couple of moral lessons thrown in. The giddy little gremlins, widgets and fifinellas are very good fantasy indeed, while the flying and shooting and balling out constitute a first-rate war thriller. This odd mixture of humor, fantasy, precept and exciting story is astonishingly successful, with full credit going to Flight Lieutenant Roald Dahl for his fine writing. Readers of almost any age will enjoy it — each in his own way.
