ALWAYS THERE IS GOD

In many ways this book is outstanding. At first glance the adult will delight in the imaginative illustrations -- two color with a delicate and fluid line, -- the handsome format and artistic layout and typography. The chant-like prose, paraphrasing and enlarging upon verses from the King James version of the Old Testament for the most part reiterate the theme of God the creator of the world long ago as well as creator of beautiful natural phenomena with which the child is familiar. However, although this abstract approach based on a fundamentalist interpretation of Genesis may seem satisfactory to the adult, a child might well have difficulty in handling a concept removed from his experience when it is projected in terms of the tenuous concept of infinite time. Also, the delicate illustrations have an ethereal quality which may prove illusive to a young child. Altogether this has merchandise value, aesthetic appeal, although this should be placed on the ""experimental"" list.
