THE GOLDEN MOTHER GOOSE

By

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

A big Golden Book- jammed, crammed and packed with stuff. Not only Mother Goose jingles, but other so-called ""childhood favorites"", and some I never before encountered- 367 in all. Lots of color and the familiar big format, with a bit more reenforcement of backbone, but not enough to make it sturdy. This seems to us to be woefully lacking in editorial judgment- on the theory that a lot is good so more is better. For quality, not to be compared to The Tall Mother Goose. But lots of pictures on every page, so every jingle has its own illustration, and the pages are big enough so they are not overcrowded. The Provensens did the Fireside Book of Folk Songs.
