Available in both English and Spanish editions (Y Domingo, Siete) a Costa Rican tale with the familiar plot of a rich brother who covets a reward that his poor brother has just received, but instead gets one appropriate to his own ungenerous nature. Here, it's a dozen green-faced witches who reward Carlos with gold after he adds the next line to their chant (in Spanish) of the days of the week. Foolishly, rich Ricardo in his turn completes the chant with the story's title--which offends the witches since it doesn't rhyme. A lively, well-told tale, appropriately illustrated in a good-humored style that recalls Zemach's work; the English edition includes ""Some Spanish Words to Learn"": numbers and days of the week.
