The old-time druggist before the advent of the soda fountain and the beauty parlor, -- part doctor, part confessor, part advisor, as the store turns into the village rendezvous. ""Doc"" Nixon, non-conformist, independent, outspoken, was a generous and lovable man, if not always a ""good provider"". Ends never met, despite forty moves to find a more secure berth. Whatever the community, he took an active part in it, his interests covering a wide range, from politics on down (or up?). Not too substantial, but a likable tale withal. Publishers planning a big push.
