As ephemeral as the snowman whose melting is all that happens here, this shows how, in the process of disappearing, the ""enormous"" figure built by a group of children resembles first an old man with ""whiskers"" and a cane, next a circus elephant, then a pair of ice skates, a reindeer, a rabbit, and a mouse. This might have worked if Frascino had made the various incarnations worth viewing, but as it is his indifferent blue wash illustrations are no more interesting than the ""secret"" Barry uses as bait throughout--toys for everyone (and even a ""bright blue collar for the dog"") inexplicably discovered on the spot after all the snow has melted away.
