KIRKUS REVIEW

A golden whippet, Dusty, is the unusual dog heroine of this boy-dog-adventure tale. Jan, an orphan, goes to live with his young married sister, Nat, and her husband, Andy. Jan's welcome is tempered because Andy's gas station is on the rocks, and coolness is added because Dusty is an additional mouth to feed. But Dusty wins her way in winning a race, intercepting burglars, in her intelligence and obedience. But she cannot save the business, and when she is stolen, ruin is very near. When she wins a big-purse race, Jan and the police find her and all troubles are over.
