KIRKUS REVIEW

The bitter brew of Robert C., these irreverent, unrestrained pieces of life as he sees it, which range from perfumes, lipsticks and charm schools, to dogs, southern cooking, writing, magazine chichi, juke boxes, psychiatry, horse racing, children, skiing, Sinatra, doctors, radio, fashion, etc., etc. A popular columnist (World Telegram), author of Grenadine Etching, delivers the coup de grace to many a worthy target, and manages more than a little septic touch to his words of complaint. From his wigwam to the bars and bistros, to hangovers and advice to the lovelorn, he is a heartily abrasive commentator who may be too far gone in the vulgate to appeal, to lovers of fine, writing but whose way with words is more often than not very, very, funny.
