KIRKUS REVIEW

Carae- whose name is better known in the adult field -- packs a fast-paced story into a small package. Here is a tale that goes back to a lawless era along the Hudson where even in a quiet Dutch town opposite pirates were not unknown. A tall tale this, in which three children, one a girl, build a boat in rather unorthodox fashion, accidentally launch it in fashion, carry a cow across and sell it to the wrong purchaser, see pirates, find-kill- and, back home land a - and then have all their -bone and blubber and oil disappear. River pirates? No, the local bigwig, who is in league with them. A believe it or not tale, well told.
