CHURCHILL'S SHOTGUN BOOK by Robert Churchill

CHURCHILL'S SHOTGUN BOOK

By

Publisher: Knopf

Subtitled ""A guide to the successful use of the smooth-bored game gun"" this is by the world's expert on firearms and the inventor of the short (25 inch) barreled guns, who has also the reputation of being a great shooting instructor. The emphasis here is on straight shooting and all the chapters aim towards this end. There's the drill, for positions, feet, hands, mounting, head, Judgment of distances, shooting rules -- and shooting for women; then the gun itself, its mechanism, care, cartridges and various models (including second hand purchases). Moving into the field, come the rules of shooting, clothes and accessories and types of shooting for different kinds of game, with assorted know-how for special breeds. An excellent addition to a sportsman's library, tyro or expert, for its knowledgeability will add to anyone's proficiency. The British accent makes no difference in this field.
