YOU CAN GROW CAMELLIAS

Pub Date: Dec. 5th, 1962
Publisher: Harper & Row

A thoroughly informed and informing view of the camellia, its varieties, culture, use, with a nod to famous collections in the United States and around the world, and completing glossary of camellia terms. Mary Noble is the author of You Can Grow Orchids, and has collaborated in writing Corsage Craft, Plants Indoors and Gardening in a Small Greenhouse; Blanche Graham wrote Florida through the Years. Their view is to the developing field -- to the expansion of breed and extension of the possible growth area. It takes in such items as disease, propagation, greenhouse management, canning camellias, waxing and making corsages. There is a roll call of cultivars intended to brief the reader on the best for climate or specific locations, type of bloom, early-middle-late bloom and bearing capacities. In other words, a comprehensive run-through which brings perhaps more material to bear on the subject as a whole than Claude Chidamian's Camellias for Everyone (see p. 786, 1959 Bulletin).
