FROM COLLEGE TO CAREER

The authors run Career Blazers, Inc. and have more than 10 years experience in lining up first jobs for new college graduates. The cautionary advice deals with the grubby starts the ""glamour"" fields of advertising, publishing, etc. provide for the richly educated, under-experienced liberal arts graduate with no specific or certified skill. The message is: Girls! Take heart and take typing-- the young ladies get off to a start from clerk-stenography. Boy! The way to the executive suite starts in the mailroom. Beginning salaries that seem designed for slow tarvation are charted by occupation. It's all quite true and as shaking as a cold shower bath in a cap and gown. The optimism comes from the thought that starting so low, there is no place to go but up.
