THREE FRIENDS

Three easy tales about three animal friends--Pig, Cat and Squirrel--and the sort of pastimes that easy reading animal friends are likely to engage in. Pig is the one here with the childlike foibles, and the others indulge him--they talk him out of running away, with a suitcase full of food, when he takes offense at comments on his piggish appetite and manners; they sit through his nonworking magic tricks at a back yard circus; and Squirrel even lets himself be bullied into Pig's garish choice of a suit for Cousin Woodchuck's wedding--though he does put his foot down in the end after the Ferret tailor misunderstands and makes the suit to fit Pig instead. As for Pig himself, he's right off the readymade rack.
