THE NERVE OF SOME ANIMALS

These case histories of individual animals -- a wolf, stallion, mountain lion, buffalo, coyotes, beavers, camels, bears, jaguar, rats and dolphins -- are framed in the life histories of their breed and go to prove not only their intense individuality but often their biological triumph over man. The wide variety of behavior among them, their effect sometimes on human affairs, the hunts after the wanted predators, the evidence of adaptability and resistance to persecution and the results of their ability to survive, often have terrifying implications for humans; the details of each animal's exploits are fascinating reading. This is natural history in current times which should find an almost bemused, hypnotized audience.
