KIRKUS REVIEW

Long before you see that word toward the close, you know that everyone will be SMERSHed to death in this battering reminder of the late great Fleming. The story's simple enough -- an add-a-corpse assignment for Alan Brett, working his way up The System and eliminating as he goes -- all except his memory of his wife who is used against him. As plain as the nose on your face but of course much harder.
