KIRKUS REVIEW

A sequel to ""Le Fusille de Dunkerque"" in which Merchandon, head of the Belgian SùretÉ, is faced with the assassination of a Nazi correspondent, Hans Jaeger, just prior to the German invasion of Belgium. Political motives are complicated by romantic issues, those of Merchandon largely, who falls in love with Jaeger's fiancee, Carole, an American foreign correspondent. Carole's tie-up with Jaeger, with another representative of the Gestapo, Merchandon's own conflict -- official versus personal inclinations -- keep this adventure-espionae tale going.
