KIRKUS REVIEW

In the ruminative, philosophical style of this Andersen Medal-winner's The Idle Bear (1987), a quiet, exquisitely illustrated story about a teddy bear reminiscing while he waits in a tree for his people to remember him. There's a bit of action at the end when a scary quartet, including a scarecrow of a doll and the witch from a children's story, seem to threaten; but they fade in "the kind of mist. . .where nothing is, but thinking makes it soy Not for everyone, but lovely in its way.
