LUCK BE A LADY, DON’T DIE

In this return to the Rat Pack of 1960 Las Vegas (Everybody Kills Somebody Sometime, 2006, etc.), it’s Frank’s turn on the hot seat.

The first of the series saw Dino in a jam: hate mail, gamblers, homicide. To extricate his pal, Sinatra tapped sharp, wired Eddie Gianelli, well-connected pit boss at the Sands. Now, however, it’s Old Blue Eyes who needs help with (gasp!) dame trouble. Neither of the ladies involved is Ava Gardner or Juliet Prowse, Frank’s current dames of record. Complicating life further is Eddie G’s inability to grasp the precise nature of the trouble. Both dames are cuties, of course, but neither seems to be, as Frank puts it, “simple and unassuming.” As evidence, there’s the serious money they’re lugging around; the dead bodies that keep turning up in their wake; and their connection to Sam Giancana. Does the legendary Mafioso have an interest here? If so, will Eddie G find himself trapped in a turf war between the Boss of Bosses and the Chairman of the Board? Gulp.

Sporadic fun, though once more Randisi’s Frank, Dino, Sammy et al. seem more like Mouseketeers than a Rat Pack.
