Historical adventure set in the time of the Pharaohs, tells the story of Khem, a young Egyptian boy, who is proud of his skill as a knife thrower. Quite by accident, he strikes a while duck hunting and is sentenced to hard labor on the pyra. Suspense builds as Ehem first escapes to Tyre where he gains knowledge of a miraculous new metal Iron -- and because of this must flee to Crete and later onto a ship bound for North Africa. After a narrow escape from the storm-wrecked ship Khem finds his way back to the Nile where his knowledge of the amazing metal earns him a pardon from the vizier and the hand of his granddaughter. A smoothly written colorful tale with glimpses into a perennially fascinating era.
