A good Halloween book for story tellers and reading aloud, in a group of stories written for the purpose by familiar writers, including such names as Emma Brock, Elizabeth Yates, Elizabeth Coatsworth, Adele De Leeuw, Mary B. Walsh and others. The stories themselves have enough shivery content- and enough realism in the outcomes- to be used with children of six, seven, eight. The vocabulary and type face makes it appropriate for easy reading at second to third grade level. The publishers place this for 8 to 12, but the format looks too young for ten and up, and the stories, while too long for five to six year olds, will hold that inbetween age listener.
