SWEET PROMISED LAND

Report repeated from page 57 of the January 15th bulletin, as follows:""Centering around the return of the author's father to his barque homeland, after forty seven years in the United States, this is filled in with Dominique's recall of the days of open ranges and dirt streets, of the coming of a young to a whole new world and the times of amazing prosperity and utter ruin. There is the enormous plot of the children and their mother to get Dominique on his way, after his little stroke, the ways and means in which they get him to buy- and wear- a new suit, the flight to New York City, Paris- and the Pyrenees where the homecoming has so much of joy and an equal balance of sadness. And, as Dominique tells of the new country, of the fate of others who emigrated with him, of details of his life in Nevada, there are the commissions he performs for Basques who have planned to, but will not, come back, courtesies towards those who have been in America and who now are back home, and the aching happiness of family reunions, a last one for many. A warm picture, of change and character, this 'return of the native' has a shining human appeal.
