KIRKUS REVIEW

This is McClung at his characteristic best. Thor's life -- graphically detailed from his nursing (""several gallons at a spurt"") to his encounter with a mechanized (and helicopter directed) whaling boat -- spans the resurgence of commercial whaling to the present point of overkill. Thor is himself and prototypical.
