PHOTOGRAPHY: What's the Law?

A short, brisk guide to the legal intricacies of a subject that crosses ticklish boundaries of property, copyright, libel, and obscenity laws. Amateurs won't find much of interest, but Cavallo (American Society of Magazine Photographers counsel) and Kahan (an expert in contract law) have conveniently assembled a great deal of material highly useful to editors, advertisers, and other clients--to say nothing of professional photographers themselves. Among the subjects covered are various copyright arrangements, liability for lab errors, ownership of negatives or transparencies, and current litigation on invasion of privacy. The authors also provide samples of contracts and model releases for different contingencies. A useful if specialized book.
