This is an interesting, readable book designed to help the bewildered layman who is sceptical of daily forecasts and scared off by the weather maps now printed in most newspapers. The old superstitions are aired and some are found to be still acceptable; the atmosphere, ""the world's largest unexplored region"" is studied, air currents, fronts, cold and warm air masses are explained. Then there are the oddities of atmosphere--the London fogs, the infamous Donora smog, the southern hurricanes. And the book concludes with a chapter on how to be one's own groundhog in the matter of weather prediction.
