There have been nine annual collections from this magazine and the assembly here is to rectify omissions from those and to focus attention on other stories from its ten years of publication. There are short shorts and long tales; there's a poem by Ogden Nash; there's a section of Zenna Henderson's series of The People; and there are names -- from Masefield and Horace Walpole, to John Collier and Isaac Asimov, Grahame Greene and Theodore Sturgeon, etc. Magic and machines, worlds of the future and worlds of the mind, survival after atom blasts, tricks, communications, hypnosis, and many other subjects are part of the satisfying whole.
