TITANIC by Robert Prechtl

TITANIC

This book is having such a build up by the publishers, that it may go farther than we feel warranted by its content or manner. It is the story of the Titanic disaster, with emphasis on the ""Titans"" aboard, -- Astor, Straus, Ismay and others omnipotent in their fields. High finance alternates with metaphysics in the dialogue, of which most of the book is comprised, for there is little attempt at an imagined plot. The Titanic represented the 14-carat world, in all its luxury and hedonistic trappings. The interest lies in the effect on the leading characters of the impact of danger and the challenge of spiritual values. It seems unnecessarily loquacious and overdone, but those who like authentic pictures of how the upper crust lives on shipboard, will find the answers here.
