KIRKUS REVIEW

Hoboes and strippers to confound Cellini Smith in a triple killing, in a vagrant community in California. Identification of the first body leads to mines and, via the burlesque, to plotting for big money. Smith is given some idea of hobo justice, is unable to prevent a third murder -- but at last gets his killer. Submachine gun pace and humor -- a toughie.
