A KILLING IN ROME

Another punishing assignment for The Killer Elite's Mike Locken, now in collusion with the best body broker of the Cold War and others he recruits, particularly the lovely Lili. They're to retrieve a former head of the Soviet Security Police from a sanatorium where he's been stashed--if possible, if possible. The characters are no more than abstractions of the letters and ciphers they represent but it won't matter--Locken's a brazen roughneck and the action's incessant.
