BY-LINE FOR JOSIE

Read as a story of a girl who wanted to scoop the news and get her by-line, this passes muster. As a vocational story it falls far short, and rarely gets beyond the wishful thinking of what being a reporter ought to be. Josie's adventurous disposition makes being a copy girl humorous, interesting, exciting. But there's no suggestion for other girls (not born to newspaper fathers) of how to go about getting a job, what is required in temperament and training, what are the pitfalls of being a reporter. Josie has ambition and imagination and seems to attain lucky solutions without help or training. But her story is fun to read.
