HISTORICAL SITES IN ISRAEL

Assyrians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Selucids, Romans, Crusaders, Ottomans and countless other conquerors swept over the small territory known today as Israel, a land of many origins. The artifacts uncovered throughout the years reveal Israel as a land of vanishing civilizations and varied cultures, and this account of the surviving historical sites incorporates the latest archaeological findings in simple terms. Many of the places discussed will be familiar to almost everyone-- Jerusalem, Nazareth, Solomon's Mines, the Sea of Galilee, and there is some interesting material on those less known. The pictures, both in black and white and color are generally good although not distinguished. More than a travel book or tourist guide, most probably a gift book at this price.
