KIRKUS REVIEW

Will the new kid in town make the high school baseball team? It seems unlikely, since the limelight-loving captain plays the same base, but Jimmy Burke is game to try. Best friend Harry gives him some encouragement but Frank, the fearful captain, just snarls his lip and hurls insults and the coach avoids the issue altogether. Jimmy becomes first-string second baseman and Frank is shifted to short until the championship game when he is bounced by the coach; Jimmy is blamed by the team but they pep up to his infield patter and take the title. Frank clears Jimmy's rep and a ""between planes"" game watcher turns out to be a scout with a contract. A flash in the pan.
