A novel of modern England, of industrial unrest and social problems, personified in the person of an idealist, who, with his daughter, lives in an industrial center, and plans a hunger-marchers' campaign. The daughter falls in love with the son of the mill owner. The resultant conflicts are inevitable. Though a fairly obvious plot, the social implications and the handling of the theme make it better than average.
