THE LAWN BOOK

A safe and sane and definitive book on lawns by one of the best informed people in the field, this should be a valuable homeowner acquisition the country over. Every aspect of planning, planting and maintaining lawns is discussed. Dr. Schery knows his subject, as Director of the Better Lawn and Turf Institute, and his articles are known to readers of most of the popularly distributed magazines on gardening. Sixteen chapters compass the subject:- planning, with knowledge of soil, exposure, climate, and use of the area as prerequisites to picking your lawn grass seed. He claims that the better the grass seed the more neglect and competition it will take, but then proceeds to cover all the factors involved in proper soil preparations, proper planting, proper care and cultivation, insect control, fertilization and fallacies.
