KIRKUS REVIEW

A kitten goes creeping away from the rug. Goodbye Mother -- Hello bug. A puppy goes sniffing down the road. Goodbye Mother -- Hello toad."" In as few words and in soft water color pictures that emphasize the exploring animals' large inquiring eyes and cuddly bodies, a mouse, a bird, a squirrel and a rabbit likewise venture forth, and the tiny picture book ends with a little boy kissing his mother goodbye -- then, on the next page, greeting his teacher. Another of Welber's gentle, adequately executed small ideas, for those who don't find Cyndy Szekeres' cuteness cloying.
